Mark1Mark Warren

Raised in southern Colorado, airplanes have always been a part of Mark’s life. In high school, he worked as a line boy and learned to fly at La Junta Municipal Airport. From there he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics, obtaining his A&P license and acquiring his first plane, a Piper PA-12.

From there he returned to Colorado and worked for Las Animas Aircraft Service maintaining a variety of Ag aircraft as well as personal single and light twin planes. His duties included recovering, engine overhaul, complete rebuilds, annuals and 100-hour inspections, and this is where he acquired the skill he enjoys applying more than any other: fabric work. He went from there to Johnson Aircraft in Colorado Springs working on Piper Super Cub tow planes under a contract to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Helping maintain up to 10 Cubs as well as a small fleet of rental aircraft, his duties covered everything from preventive maintenance to full Super Cub restoration. It was common to recover and overhaul one to two Cubs a season. This experience enabled Mark to obtain his Inspection Authorization (IA).

Mark’s next career move was to United Airlines, where he spent 14 years expanding his skills to include sheet metal and advanced composites on such aircraft as Boeing 727, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777 and Airbus 320 aircraft. After the events of 9/11, Mark returned to General Aviation where he once again enjoys rebuilding, recovering and maintenance of General Aviation aircraft. He has since restored seven Super Cubs, one PA-11, one PA-12 and one J3, and two of these Cubs received recognition as EAAs Contemporary Outstanding Piper PA-18 Super Cub in 2004 and 2005.
